Taplow Youth Choir and Young Musicians Concert

An opportunity to hear this national award winning choir together with young local instrumentalists from the Cookham area in a varied programme of choral and instrumental music under the direction of Gillian Dibden. The venue is Holy Trinity Church, Sunday 3 May at 7.30 pm. The choral programme will be drawn from a repertoire spanning many centuries and styles of music and will be combined with solo pieces from the young instrumentalists.

Taplow Youth Choir draws its members mainly from Windsor, Slough and Maidenhead There are 60 members with an age range of 15 – 18. 2008 Winners of the “Outstanding” Award at the Music for Youth Choral Festival in July. They were also named “BBC Radio 3 Youth Choir of the Year”. They will appear at Cookham Festival fresh from the international choral competition in Tallinn, Estonia.

The Choir’s conductor, Gillian Dibden, was named Choral Director of the Year 2002 in the Sainsbury’s “Choir of the Year” Competition. Accompanists for this concert will be Neil Matthews and Jean Garrett.
